Graduate Chapter Prostate Cancer Awareness Message

📢 Brothers and Community Members,

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and the Graduate Chapter of Groove Phi

Groove Social Fellowship, Inc. is committed to raising awareness, promoting early detection,

and encouraging healthy lifestyles—especially within our underserved communities.

Too often, we see a lack of conversation and awareness around prostate health in Black and

Brown communities. This silence leads to late diagnoses, preventable complications, and

unnecessary loss. It’s time for us to change that narrative.

💡Here are 3 important facts about prostate cancer:

  1. 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime—Black men are twice as likely to be diagnosed and more likely to die from it.
  2. Early detection saves lives — prostate cancer is highly treatable when found early through regular screenings.
  3. There are often no symptoms in early stages, which is why regular screenings are so critical, even when you feel fine.

🏥 Where to Get Screened in the Hartford Area:

🗣️ A Message to Our Community

📢 Brothers and Community Members,

It’s time to break the silence.
Too many of our brothers are lost to preventable diseases because we don’t talk about them, and we don’t take action soon enough. Let’s be proactive, not reactive.

Groove Phi Groove calls on our community to:

  • Prioritize your health.
  • Talk to your doctor about screening.
  • Encourage the men in your life to do the same.
  • Adopt healthy lifestyles—more fruits and vegetables, regular exercise, and cutting down on alcohol and tobacco.

Together, we can change the outcomes.
Together, we can save lives.
